Behind the scenes

Almost all the people when they are cold wear something that could warm them up. The majority of the times what you wear is a garment made with padded fabrics.
Usually the padding process consists in a sort of a sandwich: fabric-wadding-other fabric. But creativity is here to help us see the light, and reimagining the fundamental role of a specialized know-how.
Last week we went to visit “Trafpuntificio Sebino”, a company colse to Bergamo which is specialized in the process of padding, in order to discover more about this technique and give you some hints to upload it into your projects.
consider designing a geometric and symmetrical pattern, in order to give your garment a clean look.
not just synthetic fabrics, this technique works very well also with natural fibers, and can even improve its heating performance - with wool for example.
finding the right material to pad is never easy. Just play with it and create something cool out of it!
100% silk can be padded with super soft padding; bi-stretch fabrics ca be padded with just anything behind: a sort of a all-over embroidery with this material creates a fluffy effect.
usually the dimension of the patter you can create is 20x20 cm
there are some ways to go over that limit and turn it into opportunities…
okay… but what’s inside? Wadding can be done with many different materials, from natural to synthetic, from recycled plastic to cashmere. The choice depends on the kind of garment you want to create and your target market.
your logo or element as a padding point and detail? Yes, it can be done!
